Madonna's MALAWI CHARITY IN FACES CORRUPTION
Madonna wants to sue the director of her foundation, Raising Malawi, to recover $3.8 million in squandered donations meant to build a school in the impoverished African country.
Staffers of Raising Malawi are suing Madonna for lost wages.
But donors like Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Alex Rodriguez and hard-working folks around the globe will have little legal recourse available to them to regain the money they gave to the charity.
“It all depends on the restrictions donors placed on their gifts. If they specifically told Raising Malawi in writing to only use the money to build the school, then they might be able to get their donations back,” said charity watch dog, Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “But if they gave to the charity’s general operating fund, without any restrictions, then they are out of luck.”
Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, told FOX411 that she wouldn't be able to discuss whether her client was prepared to protect her donors by our deadline. Representatives for Paltrow, Cruise and Rodriguez did not return calls or emails about their clients' donations.

UNIVERSITY STUDENTS VANDALIZE SHAFFIE'S GUZZLER
Kiss 100 presenter Shaffie Weru was today caught up in the melee that ensued when University of Nairobi students took to the streets to demonstrate for the death of one of their comrades, 20-year-old Denis Omondi Adari. The second year engineering student at the University of Nairobi died on Saturday, six days after he was beaten to an inch of his life by security guards as he tried to enter Psys Westlands.
Shaffie, who was headed for an interview with Jeff Koinange, had his Mercedes ML 320's side mirrors broken. The vandalism only stopped after he parted with an unspecified amount ofcash.
"I actually helped save several motorists since when the students saw me, they approached my car, forgetting the other cars for a while and I just talked to them and they did not do much damage thankfully," said Shaffie.
Other than Psys, the students also damaged nearby business premises like Rezorous, Changes and Card Centre.

P-UNIT IN KAMPALA FOR A CONCERT
It’s no longer news that Kampala LC 111 chairperson Godfrey Nyakana is set to open a nightclub. Nyakana’s latest investment is called Le Beaujolais nightclub situated in the spacious Centenary Park Gardens. But the news is that the management of the new facility is set to fly in top Kenyan hip hop group P Unit for their grand opening on Friday. P Unit which comprises of Frasha, Gabu and Bon’eye is currently the biggest music sensation coming out of Kenya. The group behind the famous smash hit single Kare, was up against our own Mowzey and Weasel for the Best Africa Group award during last year’s MTV Music Awards held in Nigeria. However, the award went to Nigerian duo P-Square.
Formed in 2006, P-Unit has released four hit songs in the last two years, which include Si Lazima, Kushoto Kulia, Una and Kare. The reason for this success is that they are able to address and entertain in a language that the common man understands. Their music falls under the Genge genre. Genge is a Swahili word for mass and the group entertain the masses hence their phenomenal success,” reads part of their profile on their official Facebook page. The group has one album titled Wagenge Hao.
The Kenyan performers arrive in the country on Wednesday.

ROS KIMOTHO TO QUIT MEDIA?
Showbizxklusivs landed on this information two weeks ago from an inside source at K24 TV. It looked like a hoax. The source said that Rose Kimotho is quitting Media Max. 'She’s tired. She's had enough. After the management changed hands things have never been the same for her,'added the source.
Rose Kimotho the founder of vernacular FM station; Kameme through her company Regional Reach. She started Kameme years back and it became an instant hit! It’s the ‘Capital’ of Kikuyu radio stations.
Several years after Kameme FM,she had the ‘K24’ dream. But unfortunately she never had the money to fulfil the dream. That's when she teamed up with some 'mystery powerful figures' who helped get the station off the ground.Until recently when the station was acquired by a powerful politician who owns Media Max. Now that she's going, what's next for Jeff Koinange,Louise Otieno and some big names?
BLU3 JACKY TO HIT AIRWAVES

She later did a couple of sit-ins at capital FM whenever the Big Breakfast show team were on leave. The radio, owned by Richard Ssematimba, the proprietor of the famous Megapix, is currently running test runs and is expected to go on air in June. CHURCHIL TO LAUNCH COMEDY IN KAMPALA

REVEALED: THE FM STATIONS OWNED BY KENYAN POLITICIANS
Direct involvement by politicians in Kenya’s media is growing ahead of a crucial general election planned for 2012. Dennis Itumbi writes for journalism.co.za on the impact of restrictions on editorial independence.
The Kenyan political temperature is rising sharply ahead of the 2012 election, with candidates already declaring their ambitions to succeed President Mwai Kibaki who will step down at the end of his second five-year term. And the media are emerging as a key battleground, with political hopefuls literally jostling to buy influence through the ownership of print and broadcast outlets.
Most of the mainstream media are already in the hands of politicians. An exception is the Nation Media Group, but even here there are board members who were actively involved in campaigning in the strongly contested presidential elections of 2007.
Already, political control is visible in the coverage. Jacqueline Ooko, the President of the Journalist Association of Kenya (JAK), said: “There is no secret about it, already you know how each media house will handle a story depending on the politician involved and that is very dangerous.”
She added: “It beats the purpose of media freedom to have politicians hold the strings as if they are controlling puppets, someone needs to act and act fast.”
Normally, politicians come up with restrictive bills against the media before elections, but with the passage of a new constitution, the focus seems to be changing to ownership as a means of controlling the agenda. A survey of larger and smaller media houses clearly show the trend.
The Standard Group is owned by retired President Daniel Moi, together with a group of associated businessmen, including his former personal secretary Joshua Kulei.
Moi and his son Gideon recently merged their shares in the group and now are the largest shareholders in the group, which also runs Baraza Ltd, the owners of Kenya’s first private owned television station.
The group also runs the recently launched Swahili station known as Radio Maisha.
Meanwhile, Media Max, a group associated with Deputy Prime Minister and 2012 Presidential hopeful Uhuru Kenyatta, has taken over The People Daily of veteran politician Kenneth Matiba, K24 TV and the Kikuyu language radio station Kameme FM, both formerly owned by media entrepreneur Rose Kimotho.
The group is part of TV Africa Holdings, also owned by the Kenyatta family.
In 2007, TV Africa bought STV from renowned journalist Hilary Ng’weno and now uses the channel to transmit Al Jazeera. So Media Max now owns two TV stations – STV and K24, a vernacular radio and a daily newspaper.
Media Max is cashing in on management problems in the Standard group and has poached Paul Wanyagah, its former chief operations officer to become CEO.
Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga also owns an uptown FM station, Radio Umoja, which targets the youth.
A political ally of Raila who is also the Parliamentary chief whip, Jakoyo Midiwo, for his part owns Lake Victoria FM.
Water Minister Charity Ngilu, also of the Premier’s Orange Democratic Party (ODM), has also acquired Mbaitu FM, a Kamba FM station broadcasting in upper Eastern Kenya.
Royal Media services, which runs the largest number of FM stations in the country is owned by SK Macharia, a business magnate who is a close ally of President Kibaki.
Wits its large portfolio of vernacular stations, the family business has enormous influence, and has not previously shied away from showing open support for the Kibaki administration.
One of Royal Media’s stations – Inooro FM – was named in the Kriegler report as having been involved in instigating the 2007 post-election violence. It was also named in the Kenya Human Rights Commission report on the violence.
Another station named as guilty of inciting violence, Kass FM, has sold a 49 percent stake to another Presidential hopeful, William Ruto.
Kass is owned by a businessman who is an ally of the suspended Higher Education Minister.
Religious organizations have also taken up ownership in efforts to control what goes out in the public. Protestant churches have acquired Hope FM, the Catholic Church has Waumini FM and Muslims have both Radio Rahma and Iqra Fm.
This direct involvement by politicians is causing extensive disquiet among media professionals, since it is clear they are quite happy to interfere in editorial decisionmaking.
Editors and senior reporters have quit the Standard Group, citing frustration at alleged “favouritism and tribalism in the management of the group”.
One senior editor told journalism.co.za: “The problem is that editorial independence is no longer respected, there are some irrelevant stories you have to run simply because they are by the owners, then there are some untouchable issues, sometimes before a bulletin you get a call telling you to either kill or soften an angle in a major story, professionalism has been buried.”

IS ETTA LEAVING CAPITAL?
NAIROBI'S Capital FM's "Capital In the morning" co-presenter, Etta Ligale is reportedly on her way out just four months after she joined the station. Showbizxklusivs has learnt that Etta is serving notice and will now concentrate on her job at Avenue Health Care. Etta, who co- hosts the show with Chris Foot, is said to have got a new job role that doubled her work load and she couldn't handle the two jobs. We don't know what her new role will be but it should make her a serious big shot at the company considering she was once the Operations General Manager. Capital FM does not want to lose her as her show is said to be doing well, and is said to be looking for ways to make her time flexible although its proving to be difficult. But they are not giving up and are willing to give her some time off to figure it all out since they do not have anybody to replace her at the moment.....source..Izvipi..

Young act, Mo’ Cheddah, is the latest addition to the list of Soulmate Brand Ambassadors. She was weeks back unveiled by the hair care giants as one of those to help in their quest to capture the younger generation of hair product users in a deal puportedly worth N5million.
She joins another young female act, Kel, on the books of Soulmate based on her latest ratings, acceptability and popularity. Kel was initially signed with Beat FM’s Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi a year ago as Soulmate sought to reach out to the younger generation and adding a fast rising act like Mo’ Cheddah only goes further to show their commitment to that goal.

NIGERIAN IS AFRICA'S RICHEST MAN.
Aliko Dangote,a Nigerian business industrialist has made it to the top in the continent's list of Mr. Money bags. According to Forbes Magazine latest rankings, Dangote's wealth is estimated to be $13.8Billion and is ranked #51 worldwide and no.1 in Nigeria and Africa. His actually $300 million richer than Facebook Mark Zuckberg who follows him at #52.The Nigerian businessman's fortune surged 557% in the past year, making him the world's biggest gainer in percentage terms and Africa's richest individual for the first time. The catalyst was listing Dangote Cement, which integrated his investments across Africa with his previously public Benue Cement; it now accounts for a quarter of the Nigeria Stock Exchange's total market cap.Dangote Cement now has a market value in excess of $13 billion, and accounts for a quarter of the Nigeria Stock Exchange’s total market capitalization.
The dearth of native suppliers to meet increasing cement demand is driving the stock price. Dangote projects demand at 72 million metric tons and growing because of the drive to build infrastructure in Nigeria, Africa’s most populated nation, as well as other countries; current supply is 67 million metric tons, a shortfall of 5 million metric tons.
Already the continent's biggest cement maker, he has plants under construction in Zambia, Tanzania, Congo and Ethiopia and is building cement terminals in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Liberia, among other places. Dangote, who recently bought himself a $45 million Bombardier aircraft for his birthday, has been shuttling back and forth to London for months, in anticipation of a public offering there later this year. WYRE TAMES JAMAICA'S HOT BABE
After her successful concert in Nairobi over the weekend,Dance-hall stars Ce’cile was in another show business; to film her next video. Ce'cile and Wyre shot the music video to the remix of the song She Say Dat on Sunday at the Film Studios. And the set was not the usual one as Jamaica's Bad Gal and Kenya's Love Child heated up the set of the music video to the salacious remix. However they were short for time as Ce'cile's was scheduled to be at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8pm and the shoot had began a few minutes past 6pm.
Wyre said, the reason he chose She Say Dat for a remix is because, “I wanted a club banger and I know she (Ce'cile) would carry the storyline well.” The video will also premiere Wyre and Airforce's new dance style called Kode. The video is shot and directed by Thome of Boomba Videos.
Anyhow, here are some of the behind the scene photos from the shoot.

CLERIC DISCOVERS HIV/Aids `CURE` IN TANZANIA
Hundreds of people living with HIV/Aids from different regions yesterday thronged the residence of a former priest with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Ambilikile Masapila (75), at Samunge village in Ngorongoro District, who claims to have discovered a traditional medicine to cure HIV/AIDS.
The infected people were rushing to the priest, who has branded himself a prophet, seeking for treatment.
According to a statement issued by Masapila, already 15 people who had tested HIV-positive had been cured after using the medicine, adding that the patients, when tested after using the drug, proved to be HIV-negative.
He said the traditional medicine is made up from roots, which God allegedly showed him in dreams since 1991 so that, he could assist people suffering from the disease in Tanzania.
“In the dreams, God showed me a large group of people who had died of Aids and instructed me to give them this traditional medicine. Many people have already used the medicine and the results have been positive,” he said.
He said since the day he dreamed about the medicine, God had allegedly been instructing him to follow certain procedures. Besides the instructions, he said God showed him a tree from which the medicine could be extracted.
“This medicine is provided for free because I was not instructed to do business. It’s free for those who need it, but a patient who needs it should came with a hospital certificate showing that he or she has tested HIV-positive,” he said.
The cleric stressed that it was important for a patient to have total faith in the curative power of the drug and not to take it on a trial basis.
The pastor claimed that since he started administering the medicine last year, 186 had already received the medication, out of whom 15 had been totally cured.
For his part, Ngorongoro district commissioner Elias Wawa Lali confirmed to have heard information about the cleric who claimed to have discovered an anti-HIV drug, but noted that the medicine had yet to be proved scientifically.
He called on patients attending to the pastor’s daily clinics to continue using medically approved ARV’s. He said he was forced to intervene after some patients who were seeking the pastor’s medication hade stopped using life-prolonging drugs offered by the government.

WHY IRYN NAMUBIRU BROKE UP WITH HUBBY
Fresh details have emerged as to why Ugandan pop diva Iryn Namubiru broke up with her muzungu hubby. A close source reveals that the pair broke up after her French hubby Frank Morel nabbed her 'at it' with their house attendant at their home in France.(true or false am not really sure). They broke up almost a year ago and have been fighting for their children's custody. Currently it is the hubby who has custody of the kids back in Paris, France. A close family source told us that Iryn has been trying hard to get back with the fella but it seems he is not interested anymore. Recently, we saw pictures of Iryn busy snogging VP Gilbert Bukenya,if they broke up and she moved on with some else then l guess thats good for her.

Annie Macaulay -:Tuface and I Never Did Any Secret Wedding
She ventured into the movie industry not too long ago and from the look of things; she is already making a statement in the industry. Annie Macaulay, one of the women who had kids for Africa’s hip hop singer Tuface Idibia is a Computer Science graduate of the Lagos State University. Speaking with MURPHY FADAIRO on various issues such as her career, relationship with Tuface Idibia, being a single mother and other sundry issues, the pretty mother spoke at length. Excerpts.
Q.You are one of Tuface’s baby mamas; do you think you are lucky to be part of the lucky ladies who bore children for the hip hop star?
A.I cannot categorically say if I am or not lucky to have had a baby for Tuface Idibia. All I know is that I am happy that I am lucky to have a beautiful baby in this world and she is Isabella. She turned two last December and I tell you it was a wonderful time. Her dad was also around to make the day a loving one; not all dads most especially for a guy like Tuface find time for this but he was still here for the party and with his daughter. All I can say is that I have a baby for one of the best daddies in the world.
Q.So you are saying the relationship between you and Tuface is perfectly okay just for the sake of your daughter and nothing more.
A.He is a wonderful and loving dad to his kids and mine is not an exception. We have a fantastic relationship; we are happy parents.
Q.Is it true that you are the favourite of the many women in Tuface’s life and that you guys actually contacted a secret wedding last year?
A.Where did you hear that (laughs in between). I don’t know ooo. I am not married to Tuface or any other man, I am a single hardworking mother and my only joy is that I am proud to have my baby; Isabella is my world.
Q.If you are not why is there no love lost among the three of you I mean yourself, Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajaba?
A.I don’t have any problem with any of Tuface’s women; we are all cool with one another. I am cool with all of them and I love my baby’s brothers and sister. It is all love.
Q.But this is not what is been speculated out there. What about the confrontation you had with Pero Adeniyi sometime last year at the after party of the Tuface’s live in concert and another confrontation that happened at Airport hotel?
A.All these accusations are the past and happened a long time ago; I don’t want to say anything about it again. And please don’t ask me anything concerning this again; let’s moves to another question.
Q.Why; do you have something to hide? You need to clear your name.
A.I don’t have anything to hide; I am innocent. OK I said i don’t want us to talk about this.
Q.Okay then tell the world who the real Annie Macaulay is and what is it that the public do not know about you?
A.Well as you know my name is Annie Macaulay, am from Akwa-Ibom state from Ifiki local government. The only girl of a family of four studied Computer Science at the Lagos State University LASU. I did Theatre Arts at UNILAG. I have a fantastic beautiful lady Isabella and a full time Actress. It is what I have always wanted to do and i am working on several other projects coming out soon.
Q.Talking about your acting career; when did you actually debut in Nollywood professionally and how rewarding has it been financially? How rich are you.
A.I have always acted all my life; while in school I have done a couple of productions but now that i am done with my studies I will say professionally it is 2008. 2010 is one of my best years and I know it will only get better by the day. In the money aspect now, o boy it hasn’t really paid off oo but I thank God that I am comfortable.
Q.So how soon is marriage coming in, as you can see that seem to be the new trend in the entertainment industry now looking at the number of celebrities that have wedded of late?
A.For now I don’t think am ready for marriage. I want to focus on my career and build the brand Annie Macaulay so that I can make more money. Right now what I am concerned about is my baby and my career. There is no man in my life right now; he would come when God says he will. It’s never too late. I don’t have to follow the trend.
Q.Have you ever been sexually harassed?
A.A capital No is the answer. Never been and doubt if I will ever be because I don’t walk in that direction. I know what I want and believe in myself. One other thing that must be considered is the way you present yourself. If you dress provocatively and expect not to be sexually harassed then you are wrong. The way you dress has a lot to do about this. Moreover it has become a menace to our society. It is everywhere in the banking, telecoms, insurance, entertainment and what have you.
Q.And what is this story about Lesbianism cabals in Nollywood; are you aware of this?
A.I don’t know anything about that; wouldn’t know if such a thing exist because I have never experience it and don’t if I ever will. I am straight and have never believed in such things.
Q.Do you see yourself as an A-list actress?
A.I don’t know what you mean by an A-list actress or what have you. All I can say is that I am an actress and I do my work as professionally as possible. So far my producers or directors have never been disappointed.
Q.What about mentors in the industry?
A.Well I respect the elders in the industry. I am not too much of a mentor person but no doubt there are legends in the industry I hold in high esteem. I wouldn’t want to mention names.
Q.You look very pretty even after a kid; can you tell us your beauty routine?
A.Well I will say that I do a lot of exercise and workout at the gym. I watch what I eat; I do a lot of fruits as you may know it helps nourishes the body. Apart from all these I don’t any other special thing I do to keep fit. I eat well, exercise and don’t want to be on the fat side. That is why you see that I have lost so much weight. I am very happy about the way I look now and am so glad that you like it.
Q.Your baby Isabella is still very young and considering the fact that you are a single mother; how do you combine having to raise a baby and the rigours of acting which requires travelling all the time?
A.Remember that she is over two year old now. It was not easy at first because I had to take her everywhere I go but right now she is of age now and has started school. The Nanny is always there for her while I don’t abuse her motherly privileges too. I am always with her no matter what and my Mother is still very much around and available to take care of her too. She couldn’t have been in better hands. So i have time for my career and can spend weeks, months in location if I have to just the job to be done. If you look you will see that i have lose a lot of weight, it’s all because of having to be there for my baby and at the same time do my job as an actress. God have been my pillar and strength.
Q.Give us an insight into some of the movies that you have featured in and some that you are presently working on?
A.I have done some that I can’t start counting now. And I tell you in the next couple of weeks you will be seeing more of me on the screen now ever than before. Just watch out for Annie Macaulay.
Q.I saw this advert on TV about a show which you are planning; what is it all about?
A.It is just the other artistic side of Annie that my fans will be seeing. It will be coming out soon. Just like you have seen it is called Unwind with Annie Macaulay and the advert is everywhere. We are already shooting and in just a matter of weeks you will start seeing it run on TV station across the country. That is all can say for now.
Q.What is this misconception that people have about you and when you hear all these stories about you that are not true, how do you react?
A.People think that I am a snub; it is what i have been trying to be with over the years. All I will say is that they should get to know me and am sure they will have a change of heart. It is never good to judge a book by its cover. I am easy going person, they will see. And about bad stories, before I used to be very down when I read this and that not true about me but now I have developed a thick skin to it. They don’t move me as I have realized that it is one of the prices you have to pay for being in the limelight.
Q.What does it take to make a head way in this industry; it is not as easy as it seem I suppose?
A.I would say if you have got the talent, believe in yourself and go for your goal. You will get there.
Q.You are one of Tuface’s baby mamas; do you think you are lucky to be part of the lucky ladies who bore children for the hip hop star?

BEBE ASSAULTS MYSTERY MAN
Ugandan reggae singer Bebe Cool was last week involved in another fight with a mystery man who was reported to have been beaten to a point he lost consciousness. As you read this, the victim is admitted in Mulago hospital and is on oxygen. This happened on Tuesday at around 2pm at Lumuba Av. based Steak Out bar. It is however not clear what sparked off the fight. A witness told us: "It was total war. Bottles were flying everywhere. It is hard to understand why Bebe Cool is involved in such fights.

IS THIS UGANDA'S SHOWBIZ MONEYBAG?
Move aside Juliana Kanyomozi, Iryn Namubiru or even Sylvia Owori. Kampala has a new money bag . The lady has been balling big and splashing cash ,making a strong financial statement in the pearl. Kampala city socialite, Latifa Nalukenge aka Bad Black, knows when to cause a stir. And her stunts are not small time. Barely, two weeks ago she gave Zuena(Bebe Cool's wife ) a posh car. And last week, she pulled another one. Sylvia Owori, who has an eye for money invited Black to the launch of late night shopping services at her Garden City-based Sylvia Owori Fashions Boutique. The function, which was held at the Garden City rooftop, also showcased her new designs. All was calm until Black announced that all guests could pick whatever they wanted.

M.O.G IN FRESH ROW
Just when we thought things were cooling down for gospel singers M.O.G after last year’s baby mama scandal by one of the members, the group has now been accused of not crediting a singer who lent her voice to their hit song Wedding Day. According to Q-sha, real name Caroline Wanjiku, who sung the chorus, the artistes didn't credit her for the role she played in the song. “When I heard that the trio were looking for a lady with a strong voice like mine to do the chorus, I accepted and did not ask for any money. All I wanted was for them to credit me,” she told local press.
“Apart from Boss (the youngest member of the group), none of the members took time to call me and appreciate what I did. When I asked Ken-T, he arrogantly told me off,” said the bitter upcoming artiste who is currently recording at Lampstand Records.
However, MOG has dismissed her claims and put it down to a communication breakdown. Ken T said, “We did not even know who recorded the song until later as she had traveled when we were shooting the song. This is just a case of misunderstanding and we even discussed it, so I don’t know why she is still bitter.”
