CHAKA CHAKA COMING TO NAIROBI

South African legendary singer  Yvonne Chaka Chaka will be in Nairobi this coming August . The diva will be star guest during the launch of  Maisha Mapya music centre for Children slated for August 24th at the Carnivore grounds. Yvonne was invited by a group of young entrepreneurs who come under the umbrella of Maisha Mapya organization to launch the centre that will be open to children from the ages of 6 to 12.

TUSKER ALL-STARS REALITY SHOW FOR TPF STARS

East African Breweries, through their flagship brand Tusker is set for another reality TV music show and a mega concert dubbed “Tusker All Stars.’
The "Tusker All Stars" TV show will reunite viewers with eight former Tusker Project Fame contestants competing for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share a stage with music greats Usher Raymond and Keri Hilson at the “Tusker All Stars Concert” scheduled for the Carnivore Grounds on 20th August 2011.
“The Tusker All Stars will represent a return to their African roots for the two international artists. It also marks a breaking of the glass ceiling for East Africa’s entertainment scene as our very own share a stage with some of the biggest names in global entertainment,” said EABL Group Marketing Director Debra Mallowah. “This for Tusker represents a continuous commitment towards supporting talent and live music.”
The selection of the past stars was based on popularity and career progression and they include Tusker Project Fame Season 3 winner Alpha Rwirangira from Rwanda, Kenya’s Bernard ‘Ngangalito’ Nganga and Patricia Kihoro.
Season 2’s drama king Hemedy Suleiman, his fellow country man Peter Msechu and Tusker Project Fame season 4 winner Davis Ntare also made the cut. Season 4’s Amileena Mwenesi and season 3’s Caroline Nabulime have also been selected. The show is set to debut on 26th June while the grand finale will be staged on 14th August.
Running for eight weeks, the "Tusker All Stars" show will showcase the stars at their very best, performing as individuals and as groups. Their challenge is to entertain East Africa with riveting music acts each week while showcasing their star quality and versatility.

HUGH MASEKELA TO LIGHT NAIROBI

Legendary jazz maestro Hugh Masekela is in Nairobi ahead of his performance at the Carnivore tonight.

The 73-year-old South African composer and singer is famed for his hit Bring Him Back Home which became the anthem for Nelson Mandela's world tour following his release from prison.

Now, his Kenyan fans can get to watch him live in concert. He will be backed by Aaron ‘Krucial Keys’ Rimbui at the concert sponsored by Safaricom. Hugh was in the country last year on behalf of African Leadership Academy (ALA). He performed at the ALA Champions Dinner event, a small private event at Serena Hotel. ALA is a non-profit organization, which has as its mission to develop the next generation of African Leaders. They held the event to raise funds. The gate charges are Ksh 2500 advance and Ksh 3000 at the gate.

J- MARTINS: MY FATHER TRIED TO KILL ME

Nigerian star singer J Martins has revealed some disturbing news about his father. The singer told a Nigerian publication that his dad once tried to take his life. And it was about his music,which the father was against. "My father didn’t support my music and at a point he tried to kill me too. He shot at me once. He’s an ex-military man . He was doing the right thing based on the information he had during his own time. At a point I hated him. But he was trying to keep me from going the wrong way." Singer, J Martins to a Vanguard newspaper. The singer was recently in Nairobi where he performed alongside his brothers P-SQUARE at the Carnivore.

WYRE TAMES JAMAICA'S HOT BABE

After her successful concert in Nairobi over the weekend,Dance-hall stars Ce’cile was in another show business; to film her next video. Ce'cile and Wyre shot the music video to the remix of the song She Say Dat on Sunday at the Film Studios.And the set was not the usual one as Jamaica's Bad Gal and Kenya's Love Child heated up the set of the music video to the salacious remix. However they were short for time as Ce'cile's was scheduled to be at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8pm and the shoot had began a few minutes past 6pm.
Wyre said, the reason he chose She Say Dat for a remix is because, “I wanted a club banger and I know she (Ce'cile) would carry the storyline well.” The video will also premiere Wyre and Airforce's new dance style called Kode. The video is shot and directed by Thome of Boomba Videos.
