In a bizarre case of cannibalism, a Kenyan studying in the US has confessed to killing a housemate and then eating his victim’s heart and part of his brain, police in the state of Maryland have said. Alexander Kinyua, a 21-year-old student at Morgan State University in the city of Baltimore, has been charged with murdering a 37-year-old Ghanaian, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, who was reported missing on May 25.Mr Agyei-Kodie was described by authorities as “very intelligent.” He had been staying at the Kinyua family’s home in Joppatowne, Hartford County, Maryland, for the past six months.
Other charge
Mr Kinyua admitted to killing Mr Agyei-Kodie by cutting him up with a knife, police said. Mr Kinyua then “ingested (the victim’s) heart and portions of his brain,” according to police documents cited in media reports.
Less than two weeks ago, Mr Kinyua was charged with beating a different man with a baseball bat, fracturing the victim’s skill and causing him to lose sight in one eye, Baltimore police indicated.
Mr Kinyua was released on $220,000 bail on May 20 in connection with that attack.
Mr Kinyua’s brother, Jarrod, on Tuesday found two metal tins that held a human head and two hands in the basement of the family’s home, according to police. When Jarrod confronted his brother about the macabre discovery, he is said to have claimed that they were animal remains.Jarrod then called his father, Anthony Kinyua, who in turn called in the police. It was during the search that detectives discovered partial human remains in the residence and in a dumpster located off a nearby road.
“While positive identification of the human remains must be confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, investigators have strong suspicions that the remains are those of the missing person, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie,” the press release posted on the Hartford County Sheriff’s website stated.
The deceased disappeared two days after Kinyua was released from custody.Several days prior to his arrest, Kinyua had exhibited signs of a troubled man. A glance at his Facebook page revealed some bizarre posts. He had uploaded two QR codes that readers could scan using a smartphone and get diverted to a webpage.
The webpage contained some seemingly incomprehensible messages which read:Project crack code countering the destruction of the human family spread the message of creation support crack team stay tuned for more information on survival of the human family.”
“What strategy & methods to counter the destruction (co-de) of the black family???”  “All ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. will be appreciated for project crack the code.”
The other message read:
“Hear me out HBCU’ers: Are you strong enough to endure ritual HBCU mass human sacrifices around the country and still be able to function as human beings? It’s been all too tragic with the dual university shootings at Virginia Tech, and other past university killings across the country. Now for a twist: Ethnic cleansing is the policy, strategy and tactics that will affect you, directly or indirectly in the coming months. This is the brutal basis, an evil and terrifying method of this death cults.”
Kinyua is currently being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Centre.
