AMERICAN ACTOR ARRIVES IN TANZANIA FOR MOVIE PREMIER

American actor Mario Van Peebles arrived in Dar es Salaam yesterday to launch his latest movie 'We are the Party' and to be guest at the ongoing Zanzibar Film Festival. He is to premier his movie on July 13 at Century Cinema in Mlimani City in Dar es salaam. Mario Van Peebles got his first break acting opposite Clint Eastwood in the 1986 war film "Heartbreak Ridge" and parlayed that success into a prolific career both acting and directing. Van Peebles' latest acting and directing project, "We The Party," is a raucous, multi-cultural comedy about a group of teenagers coming of age during America's first black presidency. In the U.S., it is rated "R," restricting kids under 17-years-old from seeing it without a parent or guardian. In theaters this Friday, April 6, the film is a real family affair and co-stars Van Peebles, several of his children, his famous father, director Melvin Van Peebles (the subject of Mario's 2003 movie "Baadasssss!"). IS LADY JAY DEE EXPECTANT?

Speculations are rife that leading Tanzanian music diva Lady Jay Dee is pregnant. According to the sources,the singer could be in her early stages of pregnancy. ‘She’s expectant and has been slowing down her music career,’said the source that sought anonymity. The diva even cancelde her performance at this year’s Sauti Za Busara music festival in Zanzibar. A spokesperson of Sauti za Busara Ramadhan Journey briefing media said that the music icon who was to perform at the festival scheduled for February 8th -12th will not grace the event because of her medical condition. Jay Dee will instead be represented by her Machozi band. ‘I will not perform at the festival due to reasons I cant explain. Sorry for any inconvenience cause but my band will be there top perform,she posted on her facebook profile. Jay Dee however did not elaborate on her medical condition. Efforts to reach her for comment did not materialize.

NYOTA MISSES FLIGHT

Celebs are not good with time management. And that's why many keep missing flights. Nyota Ndogo is the latest victim. The pregnant diva left the country for a concert in Zanzibar. She was due to return today but looks like she overslept and missed her flight back home. 'I went to the airport late and missed the flight. I will be back home tomorrow,'she told showbizxklusivs.
