It is touted to be Uganda's most expensive concert of all time ever staged by a local act. The concert organized by Jose Chameleone will be charged at $500 per person at the five star hotel Serena in Kampala this December. And the concert is already creating online buzz. The Ugandan musician Jose Chameleon has defended his fee of $500 (1 million
Uganda shillings) for a concert planned at Serena Hotel on 19th December 2014.
The concert which follows in the footsteps of
concerts by Juliana Kanyomozi, Judith Babirye, Desire Luzinda and with
expected concerts by Bebe Cool and Goodlyfe has caused a massive
discussion about its price. Chameleon says that those concerned about
the price should not be bothered about it because he set that price for
diehard fans of Jose Chameleon. In his statement posted on
facebook he says, “I have never asked or even debated with any business
institution how they determine their prices of their commodities.The One
man, One night, One show, is NOT for anybody below affordance. Honestly
it's for the loyal Fans and The crowd that can't come to the other
usual venues. But am also very glad it's the doubtful ones debating
about it and doing me free advertisement unknowingly.
There are rumors going around about
RnB/dancehall artist CINDY SANYU being held hostage in DR. Congo....The
Singer finally spoke out. Cindy was contracted to Perform in Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo at a concert
that was supposed to take place on Monday 30th June 2014. She then
arrived in Congo with one of her managers on Sunday 29th June in time
for the show. The promoter then cancelled the show that was due
to take place on Monday for un known reasons . He then suggested Cindy
performs on Saturday 5th July which Cindy rejected due to the fact that
she already had bookings scheduled for the weekend. The promoter then
decided to hold Cindy and her manager hostage and confiscated their
passports. Cindy the contacted her team in Kampala who in turn
contacted the Uganda Embassy in Kinshasa who then contacted the Governor
of Lubumbashi who came to their rescue. travel arrangements were made
for them to leave Lubumbashi immediately. Cindy arrived in
Kigali, Rwanda last night in time for the celebration of the 20th
Liberation day of Rwanda alongside Davido from Nigeria scheduled for
Friday 4th July at Amahooro Stadium.

Ragga artiste Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine is the most
searched for person by Ugandans on Google in 2013 and counting.
Social media website, facebook.com is also the most searched for
website by Ugandans and the most searched for ‘how to’ phrase is, ‘How
to kiss’.
A new report in Tororo says that hundreds of boys are dropping out of school to sell sex to long-distance truck drivers. The report was released recently by Share An Opportunity Uganda (SAO), a non-governmental organization
that works to protect children from exploitation. It shows that the
truckers are now avoiding pricey prostitutes and opting for young boys
who they pay as low as $2.50 (UShs 5,000) for sex. Tororo district, near
the border with Kenya, lies on the Great North road, used by trucks
from Mombasa to Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and beyond. It has many
trailer parking yards, which have increased market for foodstuffs and
commercial sexual work. Clare Babirye, a SAO programme officer, said
some four hundred pupils were involved in the sex trade at UCI trading
centre, often missing school and many dropping out altogether.Babirye challenged the government to operationalize the
Anti-Homosexuality Act to stop truckers from molesting the children. On
June 24, Tororo district authorities and SAO organized a charity walk
in Osukuru, the most affected sub-county, to sensitize children on the
dangers of early sex. According to the survey, Babirye said,
most of the victims are not aware of the long-term effects of being used
as sex objects since their aim is to get money. A prostitute at UCI
trading centre, only identified as Pamela, confirmed to us that she and
her colleagues were facing competition from the small boys. “It
is true, all these truck drivers are no longer paying us for our
services but want boys for sex and we were wondering why, until one of
our friends recently got a driver having sex with a boy inside a truck
during broad daylight.” LC5 Vice Chairperson Betty Akichot said
the district leadership would initiate dialogue with the management of
Uganda Cement Industries to try and minimize the vice.
As a district,
we register an apology. However, we did not have any information
regarding the practice but now that we have been tipped, we are going to
use these findings to wage war against the perpetrators,’’ Akichot
said.
