In response, Christopher had this to say;

UGANDA'S ROYAL MARRIAGE ENDS
It's
the biggest news in the pearl of Africa. After what the couple termed as
endless misunderstandings between them, they have gone separate. Duke
Christopher Thomas and Princess Ruth Komuntale of Tooro Kingdom, the charming
princess have ended their marriage that failed to get on the right path
ever since they got married. Princess Ruth Komuntale went public on social
media last night and said she had quit the marriage citing continuous abuse and
infidelity. Below is what she posted on her facebook: My fellow Ugandans, people of Tooro, friends, and supporters
around the world;
Nimbaramukya
n'okugonza n'obusinge bwa Mukama. As you well know, last year, I married
Christopher Thomas, an African American young man from St. Louis, Missouri.
Like all marriages, we have had our peaks and valleys that we dealt with
privately. However, there are challenges we encountered that cannot be
reconciled or easily forgotten.
For the person we love, we are reluctant to believe their negative traits and behaviors; love also made me blind, and unable to see the negatives. Yet, a number of issues surfaced requiring me to take a step back and reflect on those values that define us individually and as a couple. Unfortunately, through this process, I realized that Chris and I were heading in two separate paths, because of his personality, promiscuousness, and the physical and emotional domestic abuse.
For example, as you may have seen in the media, a few weeks after our wedding, things got out of hand. Chris physically abused me and continued drinking heavily, which led to more promiscuity and infidelity. While he was out one night, he called asking me to join him in a hotel with "a nice view." I thought he probably wanted to surprise me with something nice. But on arriving at the hotel he took me to a room where a woman was standing in a towel. They were obviously together before I arrived. When I asked him why he was doing this to me, his response was that he wanted to make me feel jealous because other men wanted to dance with me when were out the previous night.
I could go on and on about how Chris physically and emotionally tormented me. I am so ashamed to mention all the things he has put me through, but it is about time everyone knows the truth. I have suffered in silence long enough, and I am tired. I tried to save my marriage numerous times and forgave all his transgressions in vain. I have also worked extremely hard to keep my private life to myself, and avoid making a public spectacle, but I have been left with no choice but to come out and tell the whole truth.
Due to the continuous abuse I have endured in my marriage, this week I told Chris we needed a break from our relationship until I could be certain I will never be physically or emotionally abused again. Chris responded by going into a rage, threatened to destroy my reputation and that of my family unless I stayed with him. He gave me an ultimatum to change my mind in five minutes or he would publically humiliate me but I refused to give in to his usual controlling tricks.
Before I knew it, he went on Facebook and posted wild and false allegations to damage my reputation and force me to do what he wants. Using his Facebook account, the ‘Princess komuntale’ page, and the ‘Batebe’ facebook page which are under his sole control and do not belong to me, he posted humiliating and painful lies for the world to see. But I refused to allow myself to get back in abusive relationship so that he could stop blackmailing me.
I loved my husband and respected him and our marriage vows until the end and it saddens to announce that our marriage has ended. I plan to move forward with my life where I am not abused everyday.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have stood by me in this challenging period. I am eternally grateful for your support and encouragement. I am especially humbled and heartened by my fellow women who have endured domestic abuse and have reached out to me and supported me in the last week.
This painful ordeal has taught me many important life lessons. First, that sheer one-sided love is not sufficient for a life-long relationship. Secondly, that one ought to have exceptional judgment of character before entering a life-long commitment. This comes with long-term courtship. And third, love should not hurt, abuse, or torment.
To those women who find themselves in a situation similar to mine, I urge you to take a stand against anyone who can harm you physically or emotionally. It’s not worth it. I tried it for over a year and it never works out. Remember, marriage should not be a trap, but rather a healthy relationship that supports the best interests of both; it should be based on mutual respect, it should bring happiness, it should bring two souls together for a life-long mutual commitment.
At this time, I kindly ask you for your prayers and support. I also ask the media to allow me some privacy as I embark on a healing process. I am strong and I know with God’s help I will be a better person because of this.
May God bless you, Tooro, and our country Uganda.
Sincerely,
HRH Ruth Nsemere Komuntale

DAVIDO'S $1MILLION HOUSE
In a short space of time, Davido has developed a huge fan base (14 to 28 year olds) in Nigeria, the US and the UK and the young fresh talent’s first single “Back When” featuring Naeto C, is enjoying massive media attention and airplay online, on radio and TV. In his own words, his greatest reward so far is “having my family and friends support my dream. I can’t ask God for more”. Within no time Davido took us by storm when he released Dami Duro, which has been said to be one of Nigerians top hits ever made. Without a doubt, dami duro has become a leading club song as well as one of radios most played.Without wasting much time, Davido and his management team, in collaboration with Clarence Peters, put together a first-class, never seen before type video, to back up the banger, Dami Duro. Not only did this video create major buzz around websites, TV stations and you tube, but was also said to be one of the best videos out of Nigeria. Without saying much, it is evident that Davido is one to watch out for in 2012! He is evidently here to stay, and deliver. Davido had a very eventful Christmas (2011) season performing all over Nigeria. He had amazing performances at shows like the Koko concert, Rhythm Unplugged, Echo 2011, Access Bank End of year Party and the Sahara End of year concert

AFRICA'S RICHEST MAN RECEIVES &3.3 Billion LOAN
Africa's wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, has signed a multi-billion
dollar deal with banks to finance the building of an oil refinery in
Nigeria. 12 local and international banks have loaned Africa's richest man and
foremost industrialist Aliko Dangote $3.3 billion to build Nigeria’s
biggest petroleum refinery
and petrochemical/fertilizer plants. The banks are: Standard Chartered Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank, Fidelity
Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, United Bank for Africa, Access Bank, Zenith
Bank, Standard Bank of South Africa, Diamond Bank, First Bank Nigeria,
First City Monument Bank, and FirstRand Bank.
Standard Chartered is the global co-ordinator, while Guaranty Trust Bank is the local co-ordinator.
The refinery would be the largest in Africa, turning Nigeria into a petroleum exporter, he told the BBC.
Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer but lacks refining capacity and has to import most of its fuel.
The West African state is often hit by fuel shortages, and conflict over control of its oil wealth.
According to a statement released by Dangote Group a few days ago, the factories they plan to build will create about 9500 direct and 25 000 indirect posts. These plants will cut the existing volumes of refined fuel that are imported by almost half which will end the importation of fertilizer in Nigeria.
The company further stated that the 2.8 million tonnes of urea that will be made at these factories will be directed into developing the Nigerian agriculture sector. Aliko Dangote said these factories would showcase Africa as maker of refined oil products and fertiliser. “As a result, several African nations will be less reliant on importing fuel and fertilizer from foreign markets, reducing the negative impact of negotiating terms within increasingly turbulent international markets"

LUPITA NYONG'O SHINES IN HOLLYWOOD
Lupita Nyong'o can remember running
around as Ralph Fiennes’s assistant when he was shooting a film in
Kenya. Now she’s the female star of the hottest movie of the year. The
actress — who was born in Mexico but raised in the U.S., where she
studied acting at the Yale School of Drama — was visiting relatives and
managed to get herself hired as Fiennes’s runner on the award-winning
The Constant Gardener.
Now she appears alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Brad Pitt in director Steve McQueen’s masterpiece 12 Years A Slave, which was premiered at the Telluride Film Festival last week. ‘I bumped into Ralph on the street in Telluride after he’d seen the film and he was saying: “Was that you?!”,’ Lupita (pictured left) told me. The movie, set in pre-Civil War America, charts the real-life story of Solomon Northup (Ejiofor, giving the screen performance of his life), a musician and free black man with a family in Saratoga, who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. After being carted around the South, he’s forcibly sent to a plantation where other slaves include Patsey, played by Lupita, a star cotton picker, but of more value as the woman who satisfies the ‘predilections and peculiarities’ of the estate’s brutal owner Edwin Epps — a powerful Fassbender.
There’s not a false note in the film as it takes you into the darkest corners of America’s past. This is the antithesis of the trashy, treacly Color Purple spew. Rather, 12 Years A Slave is the movie I’ve been waiting a lifetime to see because it confronts what was the American nightmare, long before there was any hope of an American dream. There are several extraordinary scenes, but the landmark moment everyone will be talking about occurs when the master whips Patsey, then when it becomes too much he forces Solomon to take over lashing her. It will make instant cinema history because of its rawness. Even if you shield your eyes you will still hear the strikes on bare flesh. Man does what he wants with his property,’ the master argues, as though that makes the beating OK.‘Chiwetel was gentle with me,’ Lupita told me when we chatted in Telluride, an old silver mining town high up in the San Juan mountains in Colorado. ‘So was Michael,’ she added.‘They were both concerned about what I was going through because they had to do these brutal things,’ Lupita explained.Chiwetel underwent his own beatings and tortures. In one scene he is suspended by his feet. ‘I was feeling the pain and the degradation,’ he told me. Later, he told a public panel that he had used that pain to help channel Solomon’s journey.During the same discussion, Steve McQueen, who directed Fassbender in previous movies Hunger and Shame, said that actors are like athletes.
He continued that he’s not interested in working with movie stars, ‘only artists’.
Certainly, the artists in 12 Years A Slave are athletes of Olympic stature.
The movie is being screened at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow and for the Accenture gala at the BFI London Film Festival on October 18.
It is set to open in the UK in January, and it’s going to be a force to reckon with this awards season. As we bid each other farewell, Lupita told me how she’d needed something lighter for her next film. ‘I wanted a comedy or a thriller, so I made a film with Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore and your Lady Mary and we both play air stewardesses,’ she said, referring to Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery who is also appearing in the movie Non-Stop.‘It’s very different,’ Lupita added with a laugh.

BUSY SIGNAL TO HEADLIGHT CONCERT IN KAMPALA
The first deal to bring Jamaican dancehall and reggae maestro Busy Signal to Kampala was plunked weeks into initiation but our snoops have established that he is finally confirmed for October 9. The lanky “Out Fid Dis” crooner will perform at Club Silk’s Street Jam on Independence Day (October 9) after the Industrial Area based night spot usurped a failed plan to bring him the Kampala. He had earlier been booked for a concert in our dusty city by Eagles’ Productions manager and “bivuulu” promoter Musa Kavuma but speculators intimidate the loaded fella pulled out of the deal in fear of losses and lack of sponsorship. Born Glendale Goshia Gordon, Busy Signal is a leading Jamaican dancehall and reggae artiste. He is responsible for hits like One More night, Night shift, Bedroom Bully, which is a remix of Shaba Ranks’ 90s popular Bedroom Bully hit, Missing You, Reggae Music Again which is considered the biggest reggae hit at the moment as well as Watch Out Fid Dis, also one of the biggest dancehall hits at the moment. And now they want to take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child and her grand child. Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko. She confirms that she is six month pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.
She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it. “Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong. “Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court council. Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents. “I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said. “It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant. Otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity.” But local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.”

UHURU KENYATTA'S SON TO SHOWCASE COLLECTION AT KENYA FASHION WEEK
Muhoho greets Kibaki as Uhuru Kenyatta smiles on. |
Muhoho Kenyatta, the 17-year old son of President Uhuru
Kenyatta, is the creative brains behind the youngest design group to showcase
at tonight’s inaugural Kenya Fashion Week. Mo, as he is popularly known to his
friends, is co-founder of the Nomadic brand and first designed a pair of
trousers from khanga material two years ago. “I decided to get some pants made,
some kikoi pants, but I saw some khanga material so I decided to make it out of
that,” he says “My mum said it wasn’t a good idea as khanga was for women but I
went out wearing them and people really liked them.” He says the trousers,
which have bold colours and patterns, were so well received by family and
friends, that he roped in fellow classmates at Peponi School, Nairobi, to
register a company under the brand Nomadic. His partners, Rudradeer (Rudra)
Khanna, 17, Wasim Manji, 16, and Waruru Wachira, 17 deal with accounts,
marketing and production while he thinks up the designs. Two years after his
first prototype of the khanga trouser - which he self modelled - Mo, who has a
deep passion for the local material, says he believes his designs will continue
to be well received. At their first exhibition last month, he says, they sold
100 khanga trousers in a day at the price of Sh2,000 each. “Apart from the
pants, I’ve also gone into harems and shorts,” says the shy and unassuming Mo.
At tonight’s fashion show, organised by Sonu and Sanjeev Sharma of Just Like
That, Nomadic will showcase its full range of designs including trousers,
harems and shorts. “The energy of this group is contagious and we knew they
deserved a national platform on which to showcase their creativity,” said Sonu,
the organiser of Kenya Fashion Week. Mo has personally designed all 10 Nomadic
outfits to be worn by models this evening but is reluctant to reveal the
details, fearing that doing so might eclipse tonight’s red carpet moment.
He does however say that the collection
includes formal, casual and beach-wear and that he hopes it will surprise those
with a dim view of khanga material. His harem trousers will be on sale at
Westgate in Westlands, on September 7 and 8. “Our collection shows you the
different ways in which you can use Nomadic,” said Waruru. “You can go to a
club rocking Nomadic and you’ll still look fine.”
It may probably not be long before Mo’s
parents, Uhuru and Margaret Kenyatta wear Nomadic to a public event. While the
brand’s designs are unisex, Mo, who says he is determined to make a mark in the
business world, adds that he would like to explore khanga dresses for women.
“And later we want to go into swimwear.” “We want to do this ourselves. We want
to try and build this ourselves. We wouldn’t want to get our parents too
involved but we do take their advice and listen to it keenly,” says the
self-deprecating teenager, who hopes to pursue a course in business management.
He looks back at their first shoot and says: “We’ve gone from taking pictures
on a white bedroom sheet with a phone on a bed to proper photo shoots by
professionals.”

BEBE COOL'S WIFE JOINS THE SILVER SCREEN
Damning and shocking
details emerging from the Serena-based NTV Uganda is that Zuena
Kirema, the new host of the ‘Real Life Stories’ show will be taking home a cool
$1,000 per month. This will be $600 difference from what the pioneer presenter
and law student Justine Nameere used to get. On top of the pay cheque, we
exclusively learnt that the sexy babe, who is starting duty early September,
tasked management to avail her with a car loan, arguing that it would make her
movement to various destinations easier. However, our insider pries and friends
told us that Zuena used it as a ploy to stamp her feature at the station as it
will not be possible to fire her in case she fails to live up to their billing
until she fully pays up the car loan. The management can’t figure out what she
is up-to since she already has several cars at her disposal and the company she
is joining has a string of cars that she could readily use. We understand this
is currently, the only conundrum against fully signing up the contract. On the
other hand there has been talk within the station corridors by some of the
staff members who, are still in shock as to how management zeroed on her. Many
of them claim she has little or no experience at all on TV presentation and her
command of the queen’s language is suspect. We can authoritatively report that
Zuena, a suggested S3 drop-out, at one time failed to make it to the Miss
Uganda throne, simply because of her wanting English command. Nevertheless, we
pray she has had enough training and rehearsals to help reverse this history.
Watch this space for inner details of who she competed with and why she emerged
the ‘winner.

OBSESSIONS RONNIE NOW WANTS CHILD
After their failed marriage, the man behind Obsessions, Ronnie Mulindwa and also Sharon O's ex has resorted to using all means possible to gain access to his daughter he sired with another former Obsession member, Isabella.Ronnie is the same person who lost his girl friend of eleven years, and mother to his his four-year-old boy to South African based tycoon Ivan Semwanga. Two years before meeting Sharon, Ronnie was having an affair with Isabella Nabuloli that resulted in a beautiful daughter,Louisa Angela Mulindwa. Due to irreconcilable differences, things couldn't work out between the two ex-lovers and the next thing was separating. Isabella was staying with Louisa and during that time, Ronnie could not be allowed access to his daughter. Ronnie had to seek legal redress but court decided in favour of the mother now that it was a girl child. He was however allowed to check on the daughter though his visiting rights were violated every time he went to check on her. This went on to the time Ronnie's daughter was smuggled out of the country. The girl has now made 13 and this is Ronnie's message to her. "U may be far away from Papa. but ur always close to my heart. as am sure I am to urz. U remind me so much of my beautiful, naive teen years when u chose me to be ur papa. I miss u. I hope mummy realises one day that u love ur Papa so much just like I do and gives us a chance to share that love....love u my daughter, miss u very much !! .... ur loving Papa, " Ronnie noted on his wall. Ronie later bounced back with this post: Should people who fail to work out in a relationship use children to get back at each other?
