. AVRIL TO STAR IN MTV DRAMA SERIES

Ogopa DJ artiste Avril has bagged a role in the second MTV drama series, Shuga that starts filming this week in Nairobi.
Avril who will play the role of a character called Miss B’have will be joined by other Kenyan personalities like Nick Ndeda (Angelo), Nancy Wanjiku (Baby), Brenda Wairimu (Dala), Edward Nyanaro (Rayban) and Ikubese Emmanuel - a.k.a. 9con - (Femi).
Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o, who played the pivotal character of Ayira in Shuga, returns on the other side of the camera as co-director alongside South African veteran Teboho Mahlatsi.
Also returning for the second series of Shuga are Sharon Olago (Violet), David Omwange (Skola), Nick Mutuma (Leo), Antony Mwangi (Kennedy) and Valerie Kimani (Sindi).
Other actors chosen at the public casting a few weeks ago are Christopher Otieno and Wairugi Mutero. Wairugi will be playing the role of Njoki (a party girl who loves to live in the moment) while Christopher will be cast as Slim, a small-time gangster.

Kenya International Sports Ltd announced it’s official Alcott brand ambassadors for their new sports wear line and boutique. The brand ambassadors namely, Namtero Mdee, Ian Mugoya, Nick Munene, Brenda Wairimu and Precious Kerry will go by the name A-Team. Brian Afande who is in charge of PR and marketing told Word Is that they are “still working on the endorsement package and will be revealed during the launch,” adding that the choice of the five was because the company was “looking for a fresh new look. Personalities that would represent something that young people would relate to. New faces for a new brand.”
The Alcott retail store brand is located at the Junction shopping mall extension. Alcott has a huge following in Europe with over 600 retail stores all over the world.
The brand ambassadors shall be the guests of honor at the launch of the Alcott store on Saturday at the Atrium of the Junction shopping mall’s new extension at a fashion show. Later in the evening, an invite only star-studded affair will be hosted at the newly opened store. Kenya International Sports Ltd owns the popular retail chain of stores Converse and Factory 55.
