D'BANJ ,DON JAZZY DENY RUMOR

We find it really mischievous and wicked for somebody to sit in the comfort of his home and send out messages capable of damaging the lives of his fellow human being.”
This statement above formed part of the statement by multi award hip hop artistes and producer, Dapo Oyebanjo popularly called D’banj and Don Jazzy, C.E.O of Mo’Hits Records’ media company, Media Image Managers.
Late Sunday night through Monday, Internet and Blackberry broadcast messages were flying around which said the duo were ‘arrested’ in the US with 1,000 kilograms of substance suspected to be hard drugs and they have been detained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI.
The stars’ publicist in the statement described the news as the handiwork of people who want to bring down any successful person. “It is this Shoot Him Down Syndrome (SHDS) that has pervaded the country for years now, and artistes as well as celebrities bear the brunt more. We want to state categorically that Dbanj and Don Jazzy are in Lagos. They are nowhere near New York or even Ghana.”
The statement continued: “The two respected artistes are proud Nigerians doing the country proud worldwide. They do not need to peddle drugs as they are successful young men who worked hard to get to where they are today. The report making the rounds that they were arrested in America on Sunday is false and an attempt to tarnish the image of these proudly Nigerian artistes. It’s a figment of someone's evil imagination. We at Media Image Managers are not losing sleep about this malicious campaign, but records must be set straight. D'banj and Don Jazzy are at their Lekki home in Lagos, Nigeria, they are well and okay. They have had no brush with the law for any reason, not even for a traffic offence. What makes it more funny is the fact that D’banj and Don Jazzy were having a routine meeting with many others including his media company representatives on Monday when obnoxious message dropped in many phones in the living room claiming the duo were in custody in America. Really sad.”
Since the popularity of Internet, people have literally gone gaga. Every average Nigerian is now a journalist as they struggle to outdo each other in broadcasting the news of the death of popular people as well as posting on their status on social networking site, Facebook. These news turn to be false most of the time. Nigerians have killed former Biafra war lord Chief Udumegwu Ojukwu and Freedom fighter, former South African President, Nelson Mandela several times before they will eventually die.
It was a broadcast message that sparked off a widespread panic early this year. Some mischievous people started spreading the news that the Third Mainland Bridge was falling apart and people should avoid that route. Government of Lagos had to debunk that claim. So many incidents that have led to panic had been caused by this new generation Blackberry and Facebook ‘journalists’. Rumour peddlers have told the world that Charly Boy was ‘dead’ some couple of years ago. They ‘killed’ gospel musician and Evangelist Sonny Okosuns once before he eventually died. The most guilty of this crime are faceless individuals who run web sites. They have turned the Internet to blackmail tool used in running anybody who tries to stand up to them down.
“That is why we at Media Image Managers will want to use this opportunity to call on government to call Nigerians to order by way of enlightenment on the need to verify information before they spread it further. D’banj and Don Jazzy, two successful artistes are target today (so many people had been targets in the past), who knows the next target? These young men even when they were yet to break into limelight did not do any illegal thing, so it would be most sad now that almost a decade of hard work that has paid off would be rubbished by engaging in anything illegal.”
D’banj and Don Jazzy aside winning many awards were recently signed American superstar Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music

LADIES: THE KOKO MASTER IS SINGLE

Read the excerpts below to see the interview he granted a Nigerina reporter.
Q: When do plan to settle down?
D'Banj: When I see the right person
Q: How would you know the right person
D'Banj: If I see I will know
Q: How about Genevieve?
D'Banj: We're not...(pause) why do you people keep calling Genevieve? That's a long time, we've even got over that. I am single and searching.
Q: Why has God hasn't answered you?
D'Banj: Who says he hasn't answered me? You never know when it come to relationship. Your best friend might be your wife and you might still be searching. It might be a person that I have dated before or a new person. But I believe God will do it at the right time.
Q: Do you think when you finally get married you will cheat on your wife?
D'Banj: I don't know. I don't think about that but my dad never cheated on my mum
Q: Are you planning to follow his footsteps?
D'Banj: I'm not planning to but I came from him, I must have something in common with him. When I get married, I will know. Right now, I don't.
Q: How do you manage your female fans?
D'Banj: I don't really have many female fans
Q: What do you do when girls throw themselves at you?
D'Banj: They are usually prevented and I don't get to see them because my people around me near me but if I see you and get to like you, then something might go down. It's up to me to decide...
Q: So you don't have a girlfriend?
D'Banj: No, I don't. But that don't mean I don't F**k!
Q: You are going international now, how easy will it be for you staying in Nigeria?
D'Banj: I did it from here and there is no way that you will mention my name that you will not say the Nigerian-born singer. So, it has changed nothing about me except that I am now a superstar who rocks, wines and dines with Jay Z, Kanye West and a lot of other international artists.
Q: What if they try to mimic you?
D'Banj: Nobody can steal me; nobody can take Nigeria from me. Well, that can happen only if I get married someone like Rihanna.
Q: That means you are not coming back
D'Banj: Why not, I will bring here.
Q: How is that going to be possible? She won't want to leave her country because of love
D'Banj: With love, nothing is impossible (laughs)

D'BANJ DATING NAIJA LEGISLATOR?
The duo are said to be engulfed in a very discreet but passionate affair at present.A very guarded romance is on. And it revolves around two interesting personalities- popular entertainer widely known as D Banj, Dapo Oyebanji and celebrated politician,Florence Ita Giwa. | |
Analysed a source, ‘Ita Giwa is known for keeping younger guys and lavishing expensive gifts on them. More of a Sugar Mummy having young men as plaything kind of affair. And D’Banj and the Mo’Hit crew have heavily invested on creating the image of a youngman every lady desire with all material things at his beck and call for the musician. So you see, unlike the Genevieve affair that he leveraged on male dominance to shore up that particular image, publicly associating with Ita Giwa in a submissive role of sex for material thing will make nonsense of the musician’s reputation and Mo Hits investment on him. Simply put, it decorates him with the cloak of a kept lover’. D’Banj opted for a secret affair and the celebrated politician agreed. Sources claimed that in order to cover their tracks very well- the Mo hits crew fuelled the media celebration of D’Banj’s romance with actress Genevieve Nnaji. According to investigations conducted by Naija website societynow Nigeria the romance with Genevieve was nothing more than a business affair turned fling. Divulged the insider ‘Genevieve was actually contracted to feature in Dbanj’s song for a fee. The transaction later resulted in a fling. It was this period that the Ita Giwa romance sparked off. So, what Dbanj and his team did was to continue antics that fuelled the media romance as a cover up for the real loving with Ita Giwa’ While on her part- Ita Giwa has continued to enjoy the loving of yet another celebrated artiste very discreetly- D’banj and by extension the Mo’Hit crew are said not to be doing badly in the deal as well. The money spinning deal that saw D’banj a part of President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign team is said to the handiwork of Senator Ita Giwa. Aside this, sources claimed that the Mo’Hit crew are currently tapping into the clout of the extensively connected politician set-up-this-and-that private deal.A clinical follower of the unfolding romance is of the opinion that Senator Ita Giwa’s long known penchant for publicly parading her ‘Toy’ men might disrupt the secret arrangement in the nearest future. The question is how soon? |

P-SQUARE READY TO LAUNCH ALBUM
The multiple award-winning duo of Paul and Peter Okoye, otherwise known as P-Square announced today, that they’re staging a major ‘album concert’ for their fans and followers based in Nigeria. In anticipation of the release of their fifth studio album, the bestselling Nigerian pop singers are set to put up the performance of a lifetime; working with a carefully-selected team of dancers, choreographers, musicians and back-up acts. A spokesperson for the duo tells us they are working day and night to ensure the forthcoming album not only surpasses all expectations, but also to make sure the big-bidget concert is a winner by kilometres.
Other acts that have held solo concerts at The Eko Hotel, since it opened for business last year are 2Face Idibia and Dbanj (and the Mohits crew). Psquare follows in this growing tradition; and there are unconfirmed reports Paris-based Asa is also contemplating her own gig for this same venue. A joint performance by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey in 2010 failed to hold despite huge anticipation and media frenzy.
Meanwhile Psquare’s rep tells us ‘The countdown to the album release officially kicks off with this concert, billed to hold in July’. Tentatively the album will contain 10 to 13 songs. Two singles will be released in a matter of days. The Psquare Concert will be held at the the new Expo hall of Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, July 30, 2011. In their successful career, P Square have released four very successful albums; Last Nite, Get Squared, Game Over and Danger.
