UNIVERSAL RECORDS SIGNS KENYA'S CAMP MULLA


East African leading hiphop artists have been signed to an international record label Universal Music Group (UMG). The deal which was penned down last week means that Camp Mulla have entered into the league of music elites in Africa. They have a two year deal that would boost their music to the international stage. Camp Mulla have also been nominated in the BET awards and are the first Kenyan group to hit the BET nomination list. Their deal is not known to be worth how much but insiders say it could be around $500,000. Camp Mulla is a Kenyan hip hop group originating based Nairobi. The group has grown a big fan base over a short period. They have 32,500 fans on Facebook, over 21,800 followers on Twitter and over 150 followers on SoundCloud. They have won the CHAT awards twice in the Teeniez' Group or Collabo and Teeniez' Nu Artist categories in 2012.
Universal Music Group owns a music publisher which became the world's largest following the 2007 acquisition of BMG Music Publishing.Other artists under this label include: Janet Jackson, Teairra Marí, Fefe Dobson, Cash Money Records artists (Lil Wyane, Drake, Minaj), Def Jam Recordings artists (Rick Ross, Rihanna, P square)
